Following the law suit filed against the All Progressives Congress (APC), by one of the leading aspirants for the position of the National Vice Chairman South South, Amb. Fubara Dagogo, who was effectively excluded from the Zonal Congresses already taken place across the country, members of APC Legacy Group has warned of plots by some elements within the party’s leadership to instigate his suspension from his ward in the Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers state APC.
Recall that Amb. Fubara Dagogo, had approached a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to protest his exclusion from the South-South Zonal Congress holding in Asaba on Wednesday 25th March 2026, after fulfilling all the constitutional requirements, including payment of a mandatory fee of N5.1m covering the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms.
The Legacy Groups which includes foremost members of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), factions of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) who merged to form the now ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has raised the alarm of the plan to mislead the APC into a deeper and unimaginable crisis by instigating Dagogo's suspension following his steps to redress the wrong that was done to him by a party in which he is a founding member and the DG of the APC States Assembly Forum (ASAF)
In a statement signed by Hon. Nelson Wariso Alabraba Jnr. and Hon Chinedu Egbenumolise; the groups warned that such moves will complicate the already delicate balance in the ruling party as it prepares to host its National Convention in a few days, and will potentially endanger party cohesion as it work the tight rope of the INEC timetable in line with the new electoral act as amended.
The statement maintained that Amb. Fubara Dagogo has paid his dues as a foundation member of the APC and should be treated as such. Emphasizing that the Legacy Groups are solidly behind his quest to pursue justice, equity and fairness in the party.
They further declared support for every other member of the party suffering one kind of exclusion or the other and urged President Bola Tinubu, the APC leadership and other key party stakeholders to immediately step in to nip the unfolding situation in the board before it becomes an albatross on the party and its fortunes in the coming 2027 general elections.
"Members of these Legacy Groups are committed party men and women who have all paid their dues to the party and who mostly have yet to benefit from the party’s chains of victories at the polls and who have continued to promote the party and its interests wherever they find themselves. This surely is not the way the party should treat its members", it emphasized.
