The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced plans to conduct an annual preventive maintenance exercise on the 132kV Katampe–Gwarimpa Transmission Line 1 on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
According to a statement signed by TCN Management on Monday, the maintenance exercise will take place at the 132/33kV Katampe 1 Transmission Substation between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
TCN said the exercise is aimed at enabling its maintenance crew to carry out annual preventive maintenance on the Katampe–Gwarimpa Line 1 bay switchgear and other associated equipment.
The planned maintenance will, however, affect electricity supply to customers of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) in several areas.
The affected locations include parts of Dawaki, Dutse Alhaji, Gwarinpa and surrounding communities, as well as parts of Kubwa, Arab Road, Bwari, Mopol Barracks, Jiwa and environs.
Other areas expected to experience a temporary disruption in power supply include Suleja Township, FCT College of Education, Field Base, Madalla, Zuba and surrounding areas.
TCN explained that AEDC would be unable to off-take electricity for distribution to customers in the affected communities during the maintenance period.
The transmission company apologised for the inconvenience the temporary power disruption may cause and assured customers that the exercise was necessary to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the transmission infrastructure.
