The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a scheduled maintenance exercise at its 330/132kV Ajaokuta Transmission Substation, expected to temporarily disrupt electricity supply to parts of Kogi, Edo and neighbouring areas.

The annual preventive maintenance is slated for Tuesday, September 15, 2026, between 9am and 4pm.

TCN Management, in a statement issued on Tuesday, said the exercise would involve maintenance of the 162MVA, 330/132kV power transformer, associated switchgear and other ancillary equipment at the substation.

The company explained that the exercise would affect electricity off-take by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) and Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), leading to temporary power interruptions in their respective coverage areas.

Under the AEDC network, customers in Ekirin, Omuo, Ibillo, Akoko, Ogala, Ikare, Magongo, Okene Town, Ayere, Kabba and environs are expected to be affected.

Similarly, BEDC customers in Okpella Town, BUA Cement Company, West African Fertilizer Company, Dibeks Milling Company, Edestein Company, Freedom Group Company, Ososo, Uluoke, Iyora, Apana, Okpekpe, Arigidi, Ikare Town, Lampese, Igara, Oka and environs will experience the impact of the maintenance.

TCN said the intervention was aimed at strengthening the reliability and efficiency of the transmission infrastructure.

It assured customers in the affected areas that electricity supply would be restored after the completion of the maintenance exercise.

The company apologised for the inconvenience and appealed to affected electricity consumers for their understanding and cooperation.
