NiDCOM Says It Won’t Be Distracted by Online Reports on Auditor-General’s Report

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has said it will not be distracted by reports circulating online concerning an alleged Auditor-General’s report on the Commission.

NiDCOM, in a statement signed by its Management on Saturday, described the reports as an attempt to blackmail and distract the Commission from carrying out its mandate.

The Commission said it would respond to any issues raised through the appropriate channels once it is formally notified by the relevant authorities.

According to the statement, NiDCOM is prepared to provide explanations to relevant agencies, including the appropriate committees of the National Assembly and the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation, when officially requested.

The Commission, however, said it would not engage in public exchanges with organisations and individuals it accused of engaging in blackmail and extortion of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

NiDCOM maintained that it remains committed to transparency and accountability in all its activities.

The Commission added that it would answer to the appropriate authorities whenever formally invited or requested to do so.
