The Lagos State Government has engaged key stakeholders ahead of the commencement of improvement works at the Turnbull–Parkview intersections along Gerrard Road, Ikoyi, scheduled to begin on September 14, 2026.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed this during a stakeholders’ engagement meeting held at Banana Island Estate, Ikoyi, where he appealed to residents and other stakeholders to cooperate with the government to ensure the successful and timely completion of the project.
According to a statement by the Director of Public Affairs, Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, Mrs. Bolanle Ogunlola, at the weekend, Osiyemi said the junction improvement project was designed to upgrade the Turnbull–Parkview intersection, address persistent traffic bottlenecks and enhance the smooth movement of vehicles within the area.

He explained that the project would last for six months, adding that the Ministry of Transportation would work closely with residents and relevant stakeholders to prevent disruptions to essential infrastructure such as electricity, water supply, fibre optic cables and other utilities.
The commissioner also assured stakeholders that concerns and observations raised during the meeting would be carefully considered before the contractor mobilises to the project site.
According to him, a comprehensive traffic management plan would be implemented to minimise inconveniences to residents and motorists during the construction period.
He added that construction activities would largely be carried out during off-peak periods in the morning and evening to reduce the impact on traffic flow.
Osiyemi further disclosed that the state government had put in place a compensation arrangement in situations where the project’s right-of-way affects private properties.
Also speaking, the Director of Transport Engineering at the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, Engr. Bolaji Bada, said the two intersections connect major roads and regularly experience heavy traffic, particularly during peak periods.
He noted that the improvement works would eliminate bottlenecks, enhance the efficiency of the intersections and ensure a freer flow of traffic.
The Chairman of Parkview Estate, Mrs. Ronke Shokefun, expressed concerns over traffic congestion in the area and urged the Ministry to ensure continuous engagement with residents and other stakeholders throughout the project.
Similarly, the Chairman of Banana Island Estate, Mr. Shonaiki Abidemi, commended the Lagos State Government for the planned intervention, saying the project would improve traffic flow in the area. He urged residents to support the initiative and cooperate with the government during the construction period.
Other stakeholders at the meeting included the project contractor, Infrapoint Concept Limited, representatives of Julius Berger, telecommunications companies, the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency, Lagos State Water Corporation, as well as officials from relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
