The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is set to recognise 60 of the region’s most promising startups at the 2nd ECOWAS Startup Awards scheduled to hold in Abuja from September 21 to 30, 2026.
The 10-day programme will showcase innovative businesses developing solutions in key sectors, including FinTech, HealthTech, AgriTech, EdTech, CleanTech, Climate Innovation and Tourism Tech.
The initiative is designed to promote digital transformation, strengthen regional integration and create greater market access for startups across West Africa.
The programme will feature virtual masterclasses, pitching sessions, exhibitions and networking opportunities, connecting participating startups with investors, business leaders and development partners.
As part of the awards, the top three startups will receive seed funding of US$30,000, US$20,000 and US$15,000 respectively.
The programme also targets the facilitation of up to US$5 million in deals across its various thematic tracks, providing participating startups with opportunities to attract investment and expand their operations.
The awards are expected to further strengthen the region’s innovation ecosystem by connecting emerging businesses with funding, markets and strategic partners.
