The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has intervened in efforts to resolve the power outage affecting Maitama and adjoining areas following the invasion and encroachment on the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC)'s C2 Maitama Substation.
In a statement issued on Friday, AEDC said the matter had been escalated to the highest levels of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), with the minister taking personal steps to facilitate an urgent resolution of the situation.
According to the company, Wike has been fully briefed on the incident and is coordinating efforts aimed at addressing the issues responsible for the disruption in electricity supply.
AEDC said it is working closely with the FCT Minister, the FCTA, security agencies and other relevant stakeholders to secure the substation, safeguard the critical electricity infrastructure and expedite the restoration of power to affected customers.
The electricity distribution company commended the minister for his swift intervention and commitment to resolving the crisis.
It also reassured residents that every effort is being made to restore electricity supply as quickly and safely as possible, while appreciating customers for their patience, understanding and continued support during the disruption.
