The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has terminated the engagement of Online Integrated Solution (OIS Services) as the operator of Nigeria's Visa Application and Submission Centres in the United States, directing all visa applicants to submit their applications directly to Nigerian diplomatic missions with immediate effect.
The directive, announced in a public notice issued on Thursday by the Service Public Relations Officer, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration, Akinsola Akinlabi, on behalf of the Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters, Abuja, affect prospective travellers and Nigerians residing in the United States who require visas to enter Nigeria.
Under the new arrangement, applicants are to submit their visa applications at the Embassy of Nigeria in Washington, D.C., or the Consulates-General in New York and Atlanta pending further directives from the Federal Government.
The Service explained that OIS Services will no longer receive or transmit visa applications on behalf of the Nigerian Mission in the United States, stressing that the change takes effect immediately.
To ensure continuity in service delivery, the NIS said the Nigerian Embassy and the two Consulates have put in place adequate measures to facilitate the smooth submission, processing and issuance of visas without unnecessary delays.
The Immigration Service urged applicants to follow only official updates from the NIS and Nigeria's diplomatic missions in the United States for information on visa application procedures and any future changes.
Reaffirming its commitment to efficient and customer-focused service delivery, the Service thanked members of the public for their understanding and cooperation during the transition.
