The Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with five non-governmental organisations as part of efforts to strengthen peacebuilding initiatives and address Nigeria’s evolving conflict landscape.
Director-General of IPCR, Dr. Joseph Ochogwu, who led the signing ceremony in Abuja, described the development as a significant step toward consolidating collective action in tackling complex security and social challenges across the country.
Ochogwu reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to delivering impactful services through evidence-based research, policy advocacy, and direct interventions, noting that the changing nature of conflicts requires innovative and forward-looking strategies.
“Conflicts and social problems are constantly evolving and, in some cases, mutating. This demands critical thinking and sustainable solutions,” he said. “The Institute remains dedicated to providing services through research, advocacy, direct interventions, and capacity development for diverse stakeholders.”
He emphasized that IPCR maintains strong collaboration with government institutions, international organisations, civil society groups, and individuals committed to promoting peace and stability.
The IPCR boss also urged partner organisations to ensure effective implementation of the agreements, stressing that the MoUs are intended to drive measurable impact rather than remain symbolic.
“We do not just believe in signing MoUs; we believe in activating the spirit behind them. Our focus is on practical collaboration that delivers real value to society,” he added.
The organisations that entered into partnership with IPCR include the Carl-Maji Foundation, a non-profit focused on women and youth empowerment; 3C’s Met International Institute, an Alternative Dispute Resolution organisation providing training in mediation and negotiation; Ihotu Children and Women Support Initiative (ICAWSI), which supports vulnerable women and children in conflict-affected communities; Esteemed Hub Foundation, a youth-focused group promoting empowerment and resilience; and the Peace Education and Practice Network (PEPNET), which advances peace education in schools and communities.
The partnerships are expected to enhance multi-stakeholder collaboration in peacebuilding, conflict prevention, and sustainable development across Nigeria.
