The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced scheduled maintenance at its Katampe 1 transmission substation in Abuja and Effurun transmission substation in Delta State, while confirming the restoration of bulk electricity supply to affected parts of Lagos following a temporary outage.
The three announcements were contained in separate statements issued by TCN Management on Tuesday.
In the first statement, TCN announced that its maintenance crew would conduct annual preventive maintenance on a 100MVA power transformer and associated switchgear at the 132/33kV Katampe 1 transmission substation on Wednesday, October 28, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
The company explained that the exercise would temporarily affect the ability of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to receive electricity for onward distribution to customers in parts of Wuse II, Maitama, Life Camp and surrounding areas.
TCN apologised to electricity consumers in the affected locations for the inconvenience the scheduled maintenance might cause.
In a separate statement, the company announced annual preventive maintenance at its Effurun 132/33kV transmission substation in Delta State on Wednesday and Thursday, October 28 and 29, between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily.
According to TCN, the exercise is necessary to enable EPC contractors to safely commission the SERGI fire protection system installed on the 100MVA 132/33kV Transformer T2, identified as 3EFRTR2.
The company said the maintenance would require a brief electricity interruption of approximately 20 minutes on selected 33kV feeders operated by the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC).
The affected feeders include Refinery 1 and 2, Effurun, PSLM and Warri.
TCN apologised to customers within the affected areas, explaining that the interruption would facilitate essential switching operations by its engineers.
Meanwhile, TCN announced that bulk electricity supply had been fully restored to affected parts of Lagos State following a temporary disruption on Tuesday.
The company said the outage occurred at approximately 4:59 p.m. during a rainstorm accompanied by heavy lightning, which caused the Olorunsogo–Ikeja West and Benin–Egbin 330kV transmission lines to trip.
According to the statement, TCN engineers restored electricity supply to the Ikeja West Transmission Substation at 5:28 p.m. through the Ikeja West–Omotosho 330kV transmission line.
By 7:27 p.m., bulk power supply had been fully restored to all affected injection substations serving the Ikeja and Eko electricity distribution networks.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring reliable and efficient transmission of bulk electricity across the national grid.
