Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have recovered additional items belonging to Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists following the recent failed attack on troops in Kukawa, Borno State.
The recovery was made during ongoing exploitation operations conducted on September 2, 2026, in the Alagarno axis, northeast of Kukawa.
A statement signed by Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, said the follow-up operation was aimed at tracking fleeing terrorists and preventing them from regrouping.
Items recovered during the operation included additional motorcycles, three blankets, a jackknife, an extra-large prayer mat, cups, tea-making materials, a rope, head warmer and a pair of trousers with bloodstains, among other personal belongings.
According to the statement, the bloodstained clothing and other abandoned items suggest that some of the terrorists sustained casualties during the earlier encounter and were forced to abandon their equipment and personal effects while fleeing the area.
The latest recovery followed the successful repulsion of the terrorist attack on Kukawa on August 29, during which coordinated ground and air operations reportedly inflicted significant losses on the attackers and disrupted their withdrawal.
The statement added that troops were continuing exploitation and clearance operations in the general area to deny the terrorists freedom of action and prevent them from regrouping.
Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its determination to sustain pressure on terrorist elements and consolidate recent operational gains towards restoring lasting peace and security across the North-East.
