The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and Imcomtel Engineering Limited have inspected the Katsina 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation as preparations intensify for the next major phase of equipment installation.
The inspection was conducted on Thursday, September 24, 2026, by officials of the TCN Katsina Sub-Region and a delegation from Imcomtel Engineering Limited.
The TCN team was led by the Assistant General Manager (Transmission), Katsina Sub-Region, Engr. Usman Idris, while Imcomtel's delegation was headed by Engr. Emmanuel Okafor.
During the inspection, the teams assessed ongoing civil works, equipment locations and other supporting infrastructure to determine the level of preparedness for the upcoming installation activities.
Particular attention was given to two 100MVA power transformers delivered to the substation on July 9, 2026, as well as their designated plinths.
The transformers are expected to significantly increase transmission capacity in Katsina State and contribute to improved electricity supply across the wider North-West region.
The teams also inspected four newly delivered control rooms to ascertain their readiness for the installation of critical protection, monitoring and control systems.
Following the assessment, TCN and Imcomtel reviewed and aligned on outstanding technical requirements and site preparations required to facilitate smooth execution of the next phase.
The inspection team also included the Principal Manager, Engr. Mustapha Idowu, alongside Heads of Technical Departments.
