The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Kano Region, has commenced repairs on the 132kV Kumbotso–Dan Agundi Line 1 following a forced outage caused by an earth fault during heavy rainfall and strong winds.
According to TCN Management on Thursday, the fault occurred at about 10:05 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2026, resulting in the tripping of the transmission line.
The company said the affected line was immediately isolated to allow its maintenance crew to conduct a detailed patrol and locate the source of the fault.
During the patrol completed on Tuesday, September 23, the team identified a tilted cross-arm and a snapped conductor at two separate locations between Towers T707 and T708.
TCN explained that the damaged cross-arm must first be removed and reinstalled before the required repairs on the line can be completed.
To reduce the impact of the outage on electricity consumers and commercial activities across Kano metropolis, the company said it had successfully transferred the loads allocated to the 33kV feeders at the 132kV Dan Agundi Transmission Substation to other available 132kV substations within the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) franchise area.
TCN said repair work was ongoing and expressed optimism that normal bulk power supply would be restored as soon as the necessary repairs are completed.
The company apologised to affected consumers for the inconvenience caused by the forced outage and assured them that its maintenance teams were working to restore supply.
