The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a scheduled maintenance exercise at the Central Area GIS 132/33kV Transmission Substation in Abuja.
TCN said its maintenance crew would carry out preventive maintenance on a 100MVA power transformer and its associated switchgear from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
According to the company on Wednesday, the exercise is aimed at enabling its engineers to conduct routine preventive checks on the transformer.
As a result, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to offtake electricity supply to customers in Wuse Zones 1–7, Sheraton Hotel, Central Business District, Utako, Jabi and surrounding areas during the maintenance period.
TCN apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience caused by the planned outage.
