The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has tasked stakeholders involved in the mobilisation of Nigerian graduates to ensure an error-free, credible and seamless process.
Nafiu gave the charge at the opening of the 2026 NYSC Batch ‘C’ Pre-Mobilisation Workshop in Abuja, where he reaffirmed the Scheme’s commitment to deploying technology to reduce manual intervention, improve transparency and enhance efficiency.
In a statement signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, the NYSC said the Director-General stressed the need for all stakeholders to strengthen institutional accountability, data integrity and digital innovation in the mobilisation process.
According to Nafiu, the workshop was being held at a time when expectations for efficient, transparent and technology-driven public service delivery were exceptionally high.
He assured that the Scheme would continue to strengthen its systems to ensure that every eligible Nigerian graduate was mobilised in a credible, transparent and timely manner.
The NYSC DG said the theme of the workshop, “Strengthening Institutional Accountability, Data Integrity and Digital Innovation for Seamless NYSC Mobilisation,” reflected the strategic priorities that should guide the collective efforts of all stakeholders.
He urged institutions and officers involved in the mobilisation process to take responsibility for their assigned duties, adhere strictly to approved procedures and remain accountable for their decisions and actions.
Nafiu warned that inaccurate records, unauthorised alteration of data, delayed responses and failure to meet established timelines could adversely affect the mobilisation of graduates and undermine the credibility of the Scheme.
He also called on stakeholders to improve their digital competence and cybersecurity awareness, protect institutional databases and embrace responsible innovation.
“We must therefore be zero-tolerant of negligence, manipulation of records, abuse of process and other practices capable of compromising the integrity of our organisation,” Nafiu said.
The Director-General further emphasised the importance of data integrity, noting that the accuracy, completeness and authenticity of data submitted by Corps-producing institutions and other stakeholders were fundamental to the credibility of the mobilisation process.
He urged stakeholders to strengthen their internal quality assurance mechanisms before transmitting graduates’ data to the NYSC.
Nafiu added that technology should be effectively deployed to simplify processes, eliminate bottlenecks, reduce turnaround time and improve the experience of prospective corps members.
He described mobilisation as a shared responsibility, stressing that seamless mobilisation could not be achieved by any institution in isolation.
“We must therefore strengthen information sharing, maintain open communication and escalate anomalies promptly,” he said.
Also speaking, the Director of Corps Mobilisation, Mrs. Rachel Idaewor, urged stakeholders to ensure strict compliance with the approved mobilisation timeline as preparations for the 2026 Batch ‘C’ NYSC Orientation Course gathered momentum.
She called for improved verification of graduates’ data before submission, stronger institutional controls to minimise errors and prevent fraudulent practices, as well as the deployment of technology to automate routine processes with appropriate oversight.
