The Lagos State Government has advised motorists travelling along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway corridor to plan their journeys ahead as the Federal Ministry of Works commences repair works on the Kara Bridge.
The repair work, which involves the damaged expansion joints on the Kara Bridge, is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
The advisory was contained in a statement signed by the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi.
To minimise the impact of the rehabilitation on traffic flow, the government said one half of the affected section of the bridge would be closed at a time, while motorists would share the other open half interchangeably.
The Lagos State Government appealed to motorists to exercise patience and cooperate with traffic management officials throughout the period of the repairs.
It expressed optimism that with the cooperation of road users and other stakeholders, the rehabilitation work would be completed within the scheduled two-week period.
