The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, has engaged leading global aviation manufacturers and industry stakeholders on opportunities to strengthen and modernise Nigeria’s aviation sector.
The engagements took place on the sidelines of the second edition of the El Alamein International Airshow in Egypt, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Minister’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Tunde Moshood.
The airshow, held in El Alamein, was presided over by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, alongside Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides.
During meetings with major Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Keyamo discussed potential partnerships and areas of collaboration aimed at upgrading Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure and improving the overall efficiency and competitiveness of the sector.
The Minister said the engagements formed part of the Federal Government’s efforts to attract strategic partnerships that would enhance safety, operational efficiency and sustainable growth in Nigeria’s aviation industry.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working with reputable international aviation companies and stakeholders to advance the sector in line with global standards.
Keyamo also held talks with a Saudi Arabian delegation on preparations for the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage.
The discussions centred on early planning and effective coordination of the aviation aspects of the pilgrimage, particularly air transportation and the seamless movement of Nigerian pilgrims.
The Minister emphasised the importance of commencing preparations well ahead of the pilgrimage, noting that early coordination would help ensure smoother operations and improve the overall experience of Nigerian pilgrims.
The engagements underscore the Federal Government’s efforts to deepen international partnerships while strengthening Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure and services.
