The Minister of State for Works, Rt. Hon. Bello Muhammad Goronyo, has accepted to lead a new political support organisation established to mobilise grassroots support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The organisation, known as Bello Muhammad Goronyo (BMG) Associates for Asiwaju/Shettima 2027, was inaugurated by the Minister following a meeting with stakeholders from the seven North-West states, his Special Adviser on Media, Abdullahi Mohammed, said in a statement on Friday.

The delegation, led by Dr. Haris H. M. Jibril, visited Goronyo in his office to formally present the organisation and seek his acceptance to serve as its National Convener and Leader.

The stakeholders also sought approval to adopt the Minister’s initials, BMG, as the organisation’s acronym, pledging to operate under his guidance and in accordance with the APC leadership structure in the North-West.

The group said the initiative was inspired by Goronyo’s experience in political mobilisation, leadership development and grassroots engagement, as well as his contributions to the APC’s previous election campaigns.

It specifically highlighted his role as Director of Youth Mobilisation for the North-West during the 2023 Presidential Campaign Council and his subsequent service as Zonal Secretary of the North-West APC.

According to the delegation, the organisation would provide a coordinated platform for mobilising support, engaging citizens and communicating the policies and achievements of the Tinubu administration under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

It said the group would also promote responsible democratic participation, with particular attention to young people and women across the region.

The proposed structure includes state coordinators and other officials responsible for youth and women mobilisation, communication, organisation and coordination across the three senatorial districts of each North-West state.

The stakeholders further presented a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) designed to guide the organisation’s activities, with emphasis on discipline, accountability, teamwork, loyalty and respect for constituted party leadership.

Responding, Goronyo commended the initiative and expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in his leadership.

He noted that many members of the delegation were former colleagues with whom he had worked within the APC campaign structure, adding that their renewed collaboration reflected a shared commitment to Nigeria’s progress and the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The Minister stressed that effective political mobilisation must be anchored on discipline, responsibility and constructive engagement with citizens.

He urged the group to listen to the concerns of Nigerians and communicate government policies in a manner that would build trust and strengthen democratic participation.

Goronyo identified infrastructure development as one of the major achievements of the Tinubu administration, citing the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Trans-Saharan Corridor, Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe Corridor and Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway among the Federal Government’s major road projects.

He also mentioned the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road and other ongoing road and railway projects, noting that improved transportation infrastructure would facilitate trade, reduce travel time and create economic opportunities.

According to him, the administration’s achievements should be communicated to Nigerians clearly, respectfully and factually.

The Minister assured the delegation that he had accepted the leadership responsibility and would provide the necessary guidance and strategic direction to the organisation.

“As the Secretary of the Support Groups of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Presidential Campaign Council, we will continue to work with you, mobilise Nigerians and engage our people constructively towards ensuring the successful return of our dear President, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in 2027, Insha Allah,” he said.

Following the inauguration, Goronyo charged members to remain united, disciplined and accountable while building a strong grassroots network across the North-West.

He urged the organisation to promote inclusiveness, fairness, peaceful political participation and respect for differing opinions.

The Minister also pledged to collaborate with political leaders, APC officials and other stakeholders to strengthen support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket in the 2027 elections.
