The Federal Ministry of Education has disowned an association operating as the National Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the Federal Unity Colleges, saying it is neither recognised nor authorised to speak on behalf of parents and guardians in the 117 Federal Unity Colleges nationwide.
The Ministry, in a statement issued on Monday by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, said the association does not represent the individual PTAs of the Federal Unity Colleges and has no official standing to issue directives, appeals, statements or other communications concerning the colleges.
According to the Ministry, it has neither recognised nor authorised the association to speak on behalf of the Federal Unity Colleges, their PTAs, parents or guardians.
It therefore urged parents, guardians and members of the public to disregard any communication emanating from the association.
The Ministry advised parents and guardians to rely only on official information from the Federal Ministry of Education and the management of their respective Federal Unity Colleges on matters relating to school activities, their children and wards.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, urged parents and guardians to ensure that their children and wards are in their respective Federal Unity Colleges, following the commencement of the 2026/2027 academic session nationwide.
Alausa reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to effective administration of the Federal Unity Colleges and to providing students with a conducive learning environment and the necessary support for their academic and overall development throughout the new academic session.
