The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, has charged members of the Project Implementation Task Team (PITT) to deploy their newly acquired Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills to improve research, reporting and service delivery across the Ministry.
Ajani gave the charge at the conclusion of a five-day “AI Zero to Hero” training programme organised for PITT members at Digital Bridge, Utako, Abuja.
The Permanent Secretary said the real value of the training would be demonstrated through its practical application, rather than merely completing assignments or obtaining certificates.
A statement issued on Thursday by the Head, Press and Public Relations of the Ministry, Mrs. Mary Ali, quoted Ajani as urging participants to use the knowledge acquired to produce evidence-based reports, analytical assessments and research relevant to their responsibilities.
She said exposure to digital and AI tools had positioned the officers to undertake independent research, analyse activities and identify areas requiring improvement within their departments and PITT sub-committees.
Ajani urged the participants to take greater initiative in their respective areas of responsibility, stressing that they should be proactive in researching and analysing issues relevant to their duties.
She said the ultimate objective of the training was to translate the knowledge acquired into measurable improvements in productivity, efficiency and service delivery.
The Permanent Secretary also encouraged the participants to transfer their knowledge to colleagues, noting that continuous knowledge sharing would expand the pool of public servants capable of using emerging technologies effectively.
Ajani cautioned the officers against considering the completion of the five-day programme as the end of their learning, urging them to continue developing their digital skills and exploring emerging AI applications.
She noted that digital competencies would provide lasting professional benefits to the officers during and beyond their careers in the public service.
The Permanent Secretary further charged the participants to distinguish themselves through competence, professionalism and initiative, stressing that professional reputation is built through the quality and impact of work delivered.
She commended the organisers, facilitators, Zimedy Services and the participants for their commitment to the programme, and directed the trainees to complete their assignments while demonstrating the practical impact of the knowledge gained.
Ajani expressed confidence that the training would contribute to greater innovation, productivity and evidence-based decision-making in the Ministry of Interior.
