The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned maintenance exercise on one of its power transformers at the Akwanga 132/33kV Transmission Substation in Nasarawa State, a development that will temporarily disrupt electricity supply to parts of the state.
According to a statement signed by TCN Management on Friday, the maintenance will be carried out on the 40MVA 132/33kV Transformer (TR1) at the Akwanga Transmission Substation.
The company said the maintenance commenced at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, and is expected to be completed by 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
During the maintenance period, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to receive bulk electricity supply from the affected transformer for distribution to customers in Akwanga, Nasarawa and surrounding communities, including the Water Board area.
TCN apologised for the temporary inconvenience the exercise may cause to electricity consumers, stressing that the maintenance is necessary to improve the reliability of the transmission network and enhance bulk power supply to the affected areas.
The company appealed to customers for their understanding and patience while the maintenance work is being completed.
