TCN Announces Planned Maintenance at Katampe Transmission Substation

'The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a scheduled maintenance exercise at the Katampe 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation in Abuja on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

According to a statement signed by TCN Management on Friday, August 14, the maintenance will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

TCN said the exercise is to enable its maintenance crew reconnect the newly installed 330kV Busbar 1 disconnector switch of the 75Mvar System Shunt Reactor to the 330kV Busbar 2.

The company explained that customers of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) in Wuse Zones 1–7, Utako, Jahi, Jabi, the Central Business District (CBD), parts of Maitama and Mpape will experience a brief power interruption during the switching operation.

The interruption, TCN said, will last for only 30 minutes, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

The transmission company apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for any inconvenience the maintenance may cause.
