Team Nwawelugo Movement has expressed concern over the country's worsening security situation and governance challenges, declaring that the time has come for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to provide what it described as a credible alternative for Nigeria.
In a statement titled "Nigeria Deserves Better: The Time Has Come for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to Rescue Our Nation," the movement lamented the increasing rate of insecurity, killings, kidnappings and banditry across the country, noting that the recent death of a retired brigadier general following his abduction underscored the gravity of the nation's security crisis.
The group also criticized the administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC), alleging that recurring controversies, policy failures and public scandals had weakened citizens' confidence in government institutions.
According to the movement, one of the most notable examples was the Nigeria Air project, which it said became a source of national embarrassment following reports that the aircraft unveiled during its launch was a leased aircraft temporarily painted in Nigeria Air colours rather than a fully operational national carrier.
It called for a comprehensive account of the funds committed to the project and urged relevant authorities to ensure transparency and accountability regarding the roles played by public officials involved.
The movement further raised concerns over recent reports of an alleged fake presidential agency said to be linked to appointments, documents and financial transactions reportedly involving about ₦1.3 billion. It called for a full, independent and transparent investigation into the allegations while maintaining that anyone implicated should be afforded due process and the presumption of innocence until investigations and any court proceedings are concluded.
Team Nwawelugo Movement also expressed reservations over reports surrounding a ₦50,000 grant programme associated with Nigeria's First Lady, which reportedly encouraged beneficiaries to engage in small-scale businesses such as akara frying, kulikuli production and roasted corn sales.
While acknowledging the dignity of every legitimate occupation, the group argued that millions of graduates deserved greater economic opportunities through industrial expansion, technological innovation, agricultural modernisation and the creation of sustainable jobs capable of supporting long-term national development.
The statement added that Nigeria's abundant natural resources, youthful population and entrepreneurial potential should be harnessed through policies that attract investment, strengthen local industries, revive manufacturing, improve electricity supply and expand infrastructure.
The movement said Nigerians had reached a defining moment and urged citizens to reject corruption, incompetence, waste and persistent governance controversies through active participation in the democratic process.
It encouraged eligible Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and make effective use of them during the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that greater civic participation would strengthen accountability and good governance.
The group also called on youths, women, professionals, artisans, farmers, entrepreneurs, traditional rulers and members of the Nigerian diaspora to unite behind what it described as a credible alternative capable of restoring hope, rebuilding confidence in public institutions and repositioning Nigeria for sustainable national development.
