Ebonyi Endorses Tinubu as Sole 2027 Presidential Candidate, Umahi Says President Has Transformed South-East

The people of Ebonyi State on Monday formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as their sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, citing what they described as unprecedented federal projects and appointments under his administration.

The endorsement was made during a large political gathering held at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium in Abakaliki, attended by political leaders, traditional rulers, stakeholders, party members, and supporters from across the state.

Speaking at the event, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, said the endorsement reflected the appreciation of Ebonyi people for the developmental projects being executed by the Federal Government in the state and across the South-East.

According to Umahi in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Francis Nwaze, on Tuesday, President Tinubu's administration has demonstrated a strong commitment to the region through major infrastructure investments, including road and bridge projects aimed at improving connectivity and economic growth.

"We are not going to make another mistake. The past belongs to accident of history," Umahi said, stressing that Ebonyi people would continue to support a leader who has positively impacted the state and the region.

The minister highlighted several ongoing federal projects, including a 123-kilometre road project in Ebonyi State valued at approximately N445 billion. He described the project, stretching from Ndibe Beach to the Benue State boundary, as one of the flagship legacy projects of the Tinubu administration.

Umahi also cited the dualisation of the Enugu–Abakaliki Road and the Afikpo–Uturu–Okigwe Road as major interventions expected to boost transportation and economic activities in the region. He further referenced key bridge projects linking communities within the South-East and neighbouring states.

Reflecting on his years in public office, Umahi said the current administration has brought increased federal attention to Ebonyi State through both infrastructure projects and political appointments.

"This is just a demonstration. We will never abandon the man who has lifted the state," he stated.

Also speaking, Governor Francis Nwifuru said the endorsement of President Tinubu followed a broad assessment of his administration's performance, particularly in infrastructure development, economic reforms, and inclusive governance.

Nwifuru maintained that the South-East has benefited significantly from the Renewed Hope Agenda and expressed confidence that continued support for the President would bring further development to the region.

The governor also received an endorsement for a second term in office, with stakeholders citing achievements in infrastructure, education, empowerment programmes, and governance reforms across the state.

Backing the resolutions reached at the gathering, Umahi formally endorsed both President Tinubu for re-election in 2027 and Governor Nwifuru for another term as governor of Ebonyi State.

The event attracted several prominent political figures, including Hope Uzodimma, Chukwuma Soludo, members of the National Assembly, former ministers, party leaders, and other dignitaries from within and outside the South-East region.
