The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation has announced a series of activities to commemorate the 2026 Civil Service Week, with a focus on mentorship, digital transformation and excellence in public service delivery.
The annual event, held in conjunction with the African Public Service Day celebrated every June 23, is aimed at highlighting the critical role of the Civil Service in national development while promoting professionalism, innovation and citizen-centred service delivery.
According to the a statement signed by Mrs. Eno Olotu, Director of Press and Public Relations, a key feature of this year's celebration is the Mentoring Marketplace, scheduled for Thursday, June 25, at the Rotunda Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja. The programme will serve as a platform to sensitise stakeholders on the Federal Public Service Policy and Guidelines on Mentoring recently approved by the Federal Executive Council.
According to the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, the initiative is expected to strengthen leadership development, facilitate knowledge transfer, improve succession planning and enhance institutional sustainability across the Federal Civil Service.
Also slated for presentation during the event is the upgraded IPPIS-HR Module Employee Self-Service Application, which introduces enhanced digital features designed to improve operational efficiency, employee experience and service delivery across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The day's activities will culminate in the 2026 Rewards and Recognition Awards Ceremony, where outstanding civil servants will be honoured for exemplary performance, dedication to duty, professionalism and significant contributions to the ongoing transformation of the Federal Civil Service.
In continuation of the week-long celebration, a Special Juma'at Prayer will be held on Friday, June 26, at the National Mosque, Abuja, while a Special Thanksgiving Service is scheduled for Sunday, June 28. The spiritual engagements are intended to offer gratitude for achievements recorded over the past year and seek divine guidance for the continued growth and effectiveness of the Civil Service.
