The tour kicked off along the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Highway corridor, where the Engineers’ Representative, Engr. Chukwuma Kalu, led the delegation through the completed 108-kilometre stretch from Tungan-Maje in the Federal Capital Territory to Jere in Kaduna State. He confirmed that the section has been fully delivered, while work on the second phase is ongoing and expected to be completed by November.
Kalu noted that the corridor, previously affected by delays, is fast becoming a critical route for transportation, trade, and economic growth.
Speaking during the inspection, the Senior Project Manager of Infiouest International Limited, Mr. Robert Turner, commended the Federal Government’s commitment to infrastructure development. He specifically acknowledged the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Works, David Umahi, for driving progress on the project.
Turner added in a statement by the Director, Information and Public Relations.Mohammed A. Ahmed, on Friday that about 80 per cent of the project’s workforce consists of Nigerian professionals, reflecting the administration’s focus on local content and capacity building.
The delegation also inspected the Nnamdi Azikiwe–Kaduna Western Bypass, a 21.47-kilometre dual carriageway designed to decongest traffic within Kaduna metropolis and stimulate economic activities in surrounding communities. Although initially awarded in 2021, the project has recorded significant progress since 2023.
The ongoing inspection, which spans several states in the North West, is aimed at enhancing transparency, boosting public confidence, and providing firsthand assessment of government projects.
In a related development, the Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, stated that the Renewed Hope National Media Tour will cover a wide range of projects, including road networks, rail infrastructure, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and renewable energy initiatives.
According to him, media representatives participating in the tour will independently document project execution and evaluate their impact on communities.
The tour, which began with the Abuja–Kaduna corridor, is expected to highlight major infrastructure and social development projects, reinforcing the government’s commitment to sustainable development in the North West region.
