FRSC Corps Marshal Leads Emergency Operation, Restores Traffic on Abuja–Kaduna Expressway

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, on Thursday personally led an emergency operation that restored free flow of traffic along the Abuja–Kaduna Expressway following a major obstruction at the Azara Bridge, Jere axis.

The incident, which caused severe traffic congestion on the busy highway, resulted from ongoing road construction activities and the breakdown of an articulated vehicle transporting a crane at a narrow diversion point.

The situation quickly escalated into a gridlock stretching several kilometres, leaving hundreds of commuters stranded and threatening to paralyse movement along the strategic transport corridor.

In response, the Corps Marshal moved to the scene and took direct charge of the emergency intervention, coordinating efforts to clear the obstruction and restore normal traffic flow.

Personnel of the FRSC Kaduna and FCT Sector Commands, working in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and construction officials, successfully evacuated the broken-down vehicle and reopened the corridor within a short period.

Eyewitnesses commended the swift and professional response, noting that the Corps Marshal personally supervised critical aspects of the operation and issued real-time directives to ensure effective coordination among the agencies involved.

The intervention, according to the FRSC, helped to avert potential secondary crashes, security risks, and economic losses associated with prolonged traffic congestion on the expressway.

Motorists and commuters who witnessed the operation praised the FRSC leadership for the prompt response and commitment to public safety.

The Corps also reaffirmed its commitment to effective traffic management, prompt emergency response, and collaboration with relevant agencies to ensure safer and more efficient road transportation across the country.

The statement was signed by the Corps Public Education Officer, Deputy Corps Commander Osondu Ohaeri.
