The Dangote Group has commended the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for the significant reduction in crashes involving its trucks following a comprehensive Safety System Gap Analysis carried out on Dangote Cement Transport operations in September 2025.
The commendation was made during an appreciation visit to the FRSC National Headquarters by the Head of Transport, Dangote Group, Murillo Silva, and his team.
During the visit, Silva praised the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, for what he described as the professionalism and strategic recommendations that have transformed the company’s transport safety operations.
According to him in a statement by the Corps Public Education Officer, Deputy Corps Commander, Osondu Ohaeri, on Tuesday, the FRSC intervention has repositioned the Dangote fleet towards becoming a model for fleet management and road safety compliance across Africa.
He noted that the partnership between the FRSC and Dangote Group was already yielding measurable results, stressing that both organisations shared a common vision of improving safety within the transport sector.
Findings from the FRSC Safety System Gap Analysis had identified several operational deficiencies within Dangote Cement Transport operations, including speed limiter violations, poor driver rest management, overloading, weak safety monitoring systems, and increased crash exposure linked largely to human factors.
However, comparative crash statistics between the first quarter of 2025 and the first quarter of 2026 showed significant improvements after the implementation of the Corps’ recommendations.
According to the statistics presented during the review, crashes involving Dangote trucks declined by 56 percent, dropping from 25 cases recorded in the first quarter of 2025 to 11 cases in the corresponding period of 2026.
Fatal crashes also reduced by 36 percent, while the number of injured persons dropped by 52 percent from 89 to 42.
The report further showed that deaths resulting from crashes decreased by 60 percent, falling from 35 fatalities in 2025 to 14 in 2026.
Reacting to the development, the Corps Marshal described the outcome as evidence that strategic partnerships, data-driven interventions, and institutional collaboration remain essential to improving road safety and saving lives.
Mohammed commended the Dangote Group for embracing professional scrutiny and implementing key safety reforms, noting that sustained compliance with the recommendations could position the company among the safest fleet operators in Africa.
He also urged other fleet operators and transport companies to adopt proactive safety measures aimed at reducing crashes and improving operational standards on Nigerian roads.
