The Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing nationwide police recruitment exercise, describing the process as orderly, transparent, and a significant step toward strengthening the Nigeria Police Force.
Gaidam gave the commendation following feedback from field officers across the country, noting that the exercise goes beyond routine recruitment and represents a critical effort to rebuild public trust and enhance operational capacity.
He urged all applicants to remain law-abiding, disciplined, and patient throughout the screening process, emphasizing that integrity and respect for due process are as vital as physical fitness and academic qualifications.
“This is more than recruitment; it is a call to national service,” the Minister said. “Nigeria needs men and women of honour who understand that security is the foundation upon which development and prosperity are built.”
The Minister also commended the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the recruitment of 50,000 police personnel, describing it as a bold and strategic move to address manpower shortages and reposition the force to tackle modern security challenges.
According to him, the current administration is not only focused on increasing personnel numbers but also on implementing comprehensive reforms aimed at transforming policing into a more professional, accountable, and citizen-centered institution.
Gaidam highlighted ongoing efforts to improve training, welfare, and operational support for officers, noting that the recruitment exercise symbolizes renewed hope for a safer and more secure Nigeria.
He called on traditional leaders, community members, and other stakeholders to support the process and encourage eligible youths to participate with sincerity and patriotism.
“The path to a safer Nigeria is being strengthened through deliberate reforms and a renewed commitment to nation-building,” he added.
The nationwide screening exercise continues across various centres, drawing thousands of applicants seeking to join the Nigeria Police Force.
