Petroleum Ministry Inaugurates 2025/2026 Procurement Planning Committee For transparency, accountability


Nigerian Ministry of Petroleum Resources has inaugurated its 2025/2026 Procurement Planning Committee (PPC) in line with the provisions of the Public Procurement Act, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, accountability, and due process in public spending.

Inaugurating the Committee in Abuja  the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Patience Oyekunle, stated that the exercise fulfills statutory requirements and underscores the Ministry’s resolve to ensure value for money and strict compliance with established procurement regulations.

A statement by the Head, Press and Public Relations, Chris Ugwuegbulam, on Tuesday, said  she described effective procurement planning as critical to efficient budget implementation and improved service delivery, urging members to carry out their responsibilities with professionalism, integrity, and diligence.

In her remarks, the Director of Procurement, Dr. (Mrs.) Lara Audu, noted that the inauguration complies with Section 18 of the Public Procurement Act, which mandates Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to constitute a Procurement Planning Committee for every budget year. She explained that the Committee will harmonize departmental needs into a comprehensive Procurement Work Plan with a view to ensuring seamless execution of projects and programmes.

Also speaking, the Director overseeing the Budget Division, Mr. Damza Peter, highlighted the strong linkage between procurement planning and budget implementation, stressing that all procurement activities must align strictly with the provisions of the Appropriation Act to guarantee fiscal discipline and effective delivery of the Ministry’s mandate.

The inauguration represents a significant step in strengthening institutional processes and ensuring compliance with extant financial regulations governing public procurement in Nigeria.
