Theonomic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has launched a US$500,993 humanitarian assistance initiative in Senegal to support refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), stateless persons, and asylum seekers, reaffirming its commitment to human dignity, regional solidarity, and inclusive development.

The launch convened senior government officials, including the Chief of Staff to the President of the Republic and Chairman of the National Committee for the Management of the Situation of Repatriated Refugees and Displaced Persons (CNRRPD), alongside representatives of UNHCR, displaced communities from Casamance and Mauritanian refugees in the Senegal River Valley, development partners, and the ECOWAS Commissioner for Human development and Social Affairs, Prof. Fatou Sow Sarr who led the ECOWAS officials, ECOWAS Directorate of Communication Department, said on Mondau.
Implemented by the Government of Senegal through the CNRRPD with the support from UNHCR, the US$500,993 initiative will deliver life-saving assistance and support sustainable livelihoods, while easing pressure on host communities, promoting peaceful coexistence, and strengthening national capacities for inclusive and durable solutions.
