At an official ceremony presided over by the President of the Community Court of Justice, the Honorable Judge Ricardo Cláudio Monteiro Gonçalves, in the presence of the members of the ECOWAS Council of Ministers meeting in extraordinary session on Thursday in Abuja, Nigeria, Dr. Kalilou Sylla took office at the ECOWAS Commission as Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Agriculture after being sworn in.
Mr. Sylla, who succeeds Ms. Massandjé Touré-Litsé and will serve until July 2026, holds a doctorate in economics and has held several senior positions in his country, most recently as Director General of Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Trade and Industry. His expertise covers the areas of economic and monetary policy, integration programs and projects, strategic planning, agricultural policy and development project management, marketing and analysis of agricultural value chains, and coordination of research and economic analysis.
Dr. Kalilou Sylla also specializes in project financing in the fields of agriculture, industry, and trade in the public and private sectors, as well as civil society at both the national and regional levels.
In addition, he is knowledgeable on issues of economic integration and governance, with scientific publications on regional integration, economics, and agriculture.
