The ECOWAS Commission has conducted a follow-up mission to the Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company (IVM) in Anambra State, Nigeria, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment to assess Nigeria's implementation of Nigeria’s National Automotive Industry Development Plan.
According to a statement by ECOWAS Directorate of Communication, the visit afforded the team to have first hand workings of the Innoson Vehicle assembly plant.
The statement said that the visit aimed to assess the implementation of Nigeria’s National Automotive Industry Development Plan and brought together representatives from the ECOWAS Commission, the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), and IVM’s management.
Delegates toured various production sites, including assembly lines, compressed natural gas (CNG) facilities, and stability testing units.
IVM presented its expansion plans, which include commissioning two new plants and strengthening regional partnerships through exports to Sierra Leone, Mali, and Ghana. Officials from ECOWAS and the Nigerian government commended Innoson’s pioneering role in local manufacturing and its contribution to regional automotive policy, while the company’s president reaffirmed his commitment to industrial and regional integration in West Africa.
