ECOWAS has honoured twelve outstanding journalists in a landmark celebration of media excellence that highlights the power of ethical storytelling in advancing peace, integration, and development across West Africa.
A statement on Monday said, delivering her welcome remark, H.E. Mrs Miatta Lily French, ECOWAS Resident Representative in The Gambia, praised the laureates for their originality and courage, noting that their voices carry the vision of the region’s future.
Delivering a message on behalf of H.E. Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, ECOWAS Commission President, Hon. Abdoul Kolley, Director of Cabinet, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to media as a driver of democratic resilience and citizen participation.
The 2025 Awards reflected ECOWAS @ 50 and Vision 2050, recognising media as a key ally in building inclusive, informed, and united West Africa.
