The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed the appeal by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the last governorship election in Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi challenging the competence of the joint ticket of Lucky Aitedatiwa and Olayide Adelami, his running mate in the election,
In a judgment by a five-member panel, which was presided over by Justice Mohammed Garba, unanimously held that the appeal lacked merit.
The panel also held that the appellants do not have the locus standi to query Adelami’s nomination.
Consequently, the court awarded a cost of N8million against the PDP and Ajayi, at N2m each for the four respondents of; Adelami, Aitedatiwa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) respectively.
